On the night of April 10-11, 2026, heavy rainfall and a landslide in the village of Nofin in the Shing Jamoat in the city of Penjikent caused the collapse of a house belonging to local resident Djurakul Kholikov. The city's press service reported this.
The collapse trapped 14-year-old Komiljon Kholikov, the homeowner's nephew, and killed him instantly. The homeowner's son, Shukrullo Kholikov, sustained minor injuries.



After receiving information about the incident, on the instructions of the city chairman, Abdukholik Kholikzoda, employees of the department of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of the Sughd Region in the city of Penjikent were sent to the scene.
The following day, the city chairman visited the village of Nofin, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased teenager, and provided material and financial assistance to the victims.
This issue was also reportedly discussed at a supervisory meeting with the city mayor. The relevant city administration agencies were instructed to allocate land plots to village residents living in the ecologically hazardous zone.
