On April 7, 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali, and the Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund to Tajikistan, Gazi Shbaikat. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development of the country's macroeconomic indicators, the current state, and prospects for further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund in priority economic areas.


Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali noted that in 2025, despite the challenging global economic situation, national economic growth was achieved at 8.4 percent as a result of the implementation of the directives and instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the activities of the Government of the Republic, as well as the timely implementation of the country's strategic goals, and the adoption of relevant decisions, programs, and strategies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation to achieve the country's development goals and priorities, particularly in the areas of developing national economic sectors, forecasting systems, and implementing structural reforms.
