Strengthening the food security system and adapting to climate change were discussed on April 7 in Dushanbe at a meeting between Muhammadsaid Faizullozoda, Chairman of the Committee on Food Security under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Jiangfeng Zhang, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Food, Natural Resources, and Rural Development at the Asian Development Bank, the Committee's press service reported.
According to the Food Security Committee, the parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation. It was emphasized that cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank has been growing in recent years and is facilitating the implementation of a number of important socioeconomic projects, particularly in agriculture and food security.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the implementation of modern technologies in agricultural production, digitalization of the industry, increasing crop yields, and improving the infrastructure of the agricultural sector.
The Chairman of the Food Security Committee noted the Asian Development Bank's ongoing support and significant contribution to the implementation of priority projects in Tajikistan. He emphasized that this cooperation plays a key role in ensuring sustainable economic development and improving living standards.
The parties also discussed expanding further cooperation, attracting new investment, implementing joint programs, and developing new projects aimed at developing the agricultural sector, increasing food security, and ensuring sustainable rural development.
At the end of the meeting, hope was expressed that its results would contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation and the effective implementation of promising projects.
