The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan warns of an increased risk of avalanches and mudflows in the country's mountainous regions.
It is reported that from March 7 to 10, a high risk of avalanches and mudflows is expected in the mountainous regions of Tajikistan.
According to the Hydrometeorology Agency, the most dangerous situation is predicted on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway, especially in the Maykhura and Zidekh sections of the Varzob district.
It is also reported that avalanches are possible in the mountainous regions of republican subordination and in the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
In addition, on March 7, 9 and 10, mudflows are possible in certain areas of the Khatlon region, in the foothills of the Sughd region, in the districts of republican subordination and in the western districts of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
The Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan strongly recommends that drivers take precautions when traveling on mountain roads.
Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution when driving on mountain roads, avoid driving through avalanche-prone areas if possible, avoid stopping in areas prone to avalanches and mudflows, and strictly follow the instructions of road and rescue services.
