On March 5 and 6, precipitation, primarily rain, is expected in most regions of Tajikistan, with the exception of the southern Khatlon region and the eastern Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, according to the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
According to the agency, rain and snow are possible at altitudes above 2,000 meters. Heavy precipitation is forecast in some areas.
It is noted that during this period, avalanches are expected on avalanche-prone sections of the Dushanbe-Chanak highway at kilometers 48-74 and 78-81, especially in the Maikhura and Zidde districts of the Varzob region, as well as in the mountainous regions of republican subordination and in the west of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
An increase in water levels is also predicted on the Yakhsu and Kyzylsu (southern) rivers, as well as on the rivers flowing down the southern slopes of the Gissar Range.
In addition, mudflows are possible in the foothill areas of the Khatlon region – Khovaling, Muminabad, Shamsiddin Shokhin and Kulyab – in the mountainous regions of republican subordination, the Darvaz region of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, as well as in the foothill and mountainous regions of the Sughd region.
Citizens of the republic are advised to take precautions.
