On February 26, 2026, Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, met with a World Bank Group delegation led by Momina Aijazuddin, Director of Financial Institutions for the International Finance Corporation in the Middle East, Central Asia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Tajikistan.

During the meeting, issues of strengthening effective bilateral cooperation, developing the financial sector, and expanding access to financing for the private sector, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, were discussed.
The Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, presenting the macroeconomic situation and indicators of the country's banking sector, noted the long-standing fruitful cooperation with the World Bank Group, in particular the International Finance Corporation, emphasizing that this partnership has played a significant role in strengthening the stability of the banking system, implementing modern corporate governance standards, improving the risk management system, developing digital financial services, and expanding access to financial services.
The parties also discussed the possibility of expanding cooperation in strengthening compliance systems, financing small and medium-sized businesses, including supporting women's entrepreneurship, developing green and sustainable finance, digitalizing financial services, and risk management.
It was noted that the implementation of these areas will contribute to strengthening financial stability, expanding the coverage of financial services and ensuring the sustainable development of the country's financial sector.
At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized their readiness to continue constructive and fruitful cooperation.
