On March 2, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pizishkiyon in connection with the death of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Said Ali Khamenei, and a number of Iranian government officials and commanders, the press service of the head of state reported.
The telegram reads:
"Your Excellency,
It is with great regret and deep sadness that we received the news of the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Said Ali Khamenei, and a number of Iranian government officials and commanders.
Expressing our sincere condolences to the noble and resilient people of Iran on this great loss, I would like to acknowledge the worthy contribution of the late Ayatollah Said Ali Khamenei to the development of comprehensive and constructive Tajik-Iranian relations, as well as to strengthening cooperation between the two nations, bearers of an ancient civilization.
In these tragic days, expressing the grief and sympathy of the people of Tajikistan to the brotherly people of Iran, I ask the Almighty for eternal mercy on all those who perished, for their souls to find divine peace, and for their families and friends to have kind patience in the face of this grave grief."
