The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, signed a decree on the discharge of military personnel who have completed their mandatory military service terms, and on the next conscription of citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan born between 1999 and 2008 for military service.
The decree was adopted in accordance with Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Defense”.
According to the document, military personnel who have completed their mandatory military service terms will be discharged from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Civil Defense Troops of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the escort brigade of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Agrarian Battalion of the Agency for Provision of Special Property under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in April–May 2026. The decree also provides for the conscription in April–May 2026 of male citizens aged 18 to 27 years who, on the day of conscription, do not have the right to a deferment or exemption from conscription for military service, to serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, the border troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, the National Guard of the Republic of Tajikistan, the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the civil defense troops of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the escort brigade of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the agrarian battalion of the Agency for the Provision of Special Property under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, the chairmen of the conscription commissions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, the city of Dushanbe, cities and districts, with the participation of representatives of security and internal affairs agencies, are instructed to conscript citizens into the border troops, the National Guard, and special forces units through a careful selection of conscripts, taking into account the specifics of service in these units and their staffing on a priority basis.
In order to implement the provisions of Article 34 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Military Duty and Military Service," city and district chairmen, together with military commissariats, are instructed to responsibly carry out an organized conscription of citizens for military service.
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Committee on Television and Radio under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan have been instructed to widely cover the progress of organizing and conducting the conscription of citizens for military service and to promote military service as a sacred duty of every citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan has been instructed to mobilize experienced doctors and specialists to conduct medical examinations of conscripts called up by the draft commissions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, regions, the city of Dushanbe, cities, and districts.
