From February 23 to 25, 2026, the German Forum on Higher Education and Research on Central Asia was held in Halle (Saale), at the headquarters of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, as part of the strategic regional partnership between Central Asia and Germany in the C5+1 format. This was reported by the Embassy of Tajikistan in Germany.
The forum was organized with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space at the initiative of Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg and the Central Asia Sustainable Innovation Bureau. The event aimed to facilitate an exchange of views on current issues, challenges, and prospects for cooperation in science and research policy between Central Asia and Germany.


At the forum's opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Claudia Becker, Rector of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of strengthening interregional cooperation in science and education.
On February 23, a high-level plenary session on "Germany-Central Asia Research Policy Cooperation in the C5+1 Format" was held. State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space Dr. Markus Player and ambassadors from Central Asian states addressed the session.








In his speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany Imomudin Sattorov emphasized the importance of scientific research cooperation for sustainable development and expressed Tajikistan's readiness to further strengthen cooperation with German research institutions and higher education institutions in the area of joint research projects and academic mobility.
On the sidelines of the forum, a Joint Declaration of Intent on cooperation in science, research, and innovation within the framework of the C5+1 process was signed between the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space and the relevant ministries of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
