Tajik President Emomali Rahmon congratulated generals, officers, sergeants, soldiers, and veterans on the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan, according to the presidential press service.
In his address, the President noted that the Armed Forces are one of the main pillars of modern Tajik statehood. He emphasized that the Armed Forces and law enforcement officers serve as a reliable shield in defending the country's independence and freedom, protecting the borders of the Motherland, and ensuring stability, peace, and security for the state and society.
The head of state stated that Defenders of the Fatherland Day, celebrated annually in independent Tajikistan with special solemnity, embodies the people's high trust and respect for those who perform military service as a sacred mission and honorable duty.
He recalled that during the tragic days of the imposed civil war in the early 1990s, the state leadership and government recognized the impossibility of ensuring the security of the state and the nation, the stability and peace of society without the presence of armed forces equipped with military equipment and weapons, as well as without courageous and loyal servicemen.
According to the president, despite economic and financial difficulties, the National Army was created, and the first military parade of the Tajik Armed Forces took place on February 23, 1993. He noted that the Armed Forces were formed and forged in difficult conditions, acquiring experience and combat skills.
In subsequent years, the Armed Forces, together with other military structures and law enforcement agencies, as the President emphasized, repeatedly underwent tests of loyalty, courage, and valor, ensuring the security of the state and the protection of the people.
The head of state expressed gratitude to the military personnel of the Armed Forces, other security agencies, and law enforcement officers for their loyal service to the state and people of Tajikistan. He stated that the state and people will never forget the dedication and heroism of officers and soldiers and will honor the memory of those who gave their lives to restore constitutional order, defend the borders of the Motherland, strengthen peace and stability, and protect the peaceful life of the population.
The President also noted the complex and alarming situation in the region and globally, including the escalating global re-division, rapid armament, and the rise of terrorism and extremism, cybercrime, and other forms of transnational organized crime. He stated that this compels the adoption of additional measures to ensure the country's defense security.
He emphasized that, in the context of unprecedented development of science, technology, and engineering, state security and societal stability can be ensured by personnel possessing modern military knowledge, high professionalism, and mastering the latest technologies.
According to the President, constantly improving professional skills, strengthening national identity, loyalty to the military oath, and compliance with military regulations are the daily responsibilities of all military personnel—from command staff to the rank and file.
In closing, the head of state expressed confidence that the personnel of the Armed Forces will continue to honorably fulfill their mission of ensuring the security of the state and society, peaceful life, and the creative work of the people, demonstrating discipline, modern knowledge, a high spirit of patriotism, strong will, and devotion to the Motherland.
