The State Duma Committee on Health Protection recommended that the chamber ratify the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and the Republic of Tajikistan on medical examinations for migrant workers from the Republic entering the Russian Federation. This was reported by TASS, citing committee chairman Sergei Leonov (LDPR).
"Today, at our committee meeting, we supported an important bill ratifying the agreement between our government and the government of the Republic of Tajikistan on medical examinations for citizens wishing to come to work in Russia. The medical examination itself will be carried out solely at the expense of the Tajik citizen," Leonov said.
The deputy explained that Tajik citizens will be able to undergo medical examinations before entering the Russian Federation, that is, in their own republic. However, these examinations will only be available at organizations authorized by the Russian Ministry of Health.
"This will significantly improve the safety of our citizens, first and foremost, as it will prevent the entry of migrants who are diagnosed with the relevant diseases," the committee head added.
The agreement was signed in Dushanbe in October 2025. In February of this year, the Russian Cabinet of Ministers submitted the document to the State Duma for ratification. As noted in the explanatory note, the agreement's entry into force will facilitate the development of relations between the countries and provide a legal basis for medical examinations of Tajik migrant workers.
