On February 16th of this year, the women's volleyball competition for the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region Chairman's Cup, dedicated to Mother's Day, kicked off at the Khorog Sports Complex. Twenty-one teams are participating, according to the GBAO administration press service.
Mirzonabot Regional Chairman Alisher Khudoberdi attended the opening ceremony. In his speech, he noted that 2025 was a successful and memorable year for the region's sports industry in every respect, as all sporting events were held to a high standard. It is thanks to the support and leadership of Emomali Rahmon that the region's athletes are achieving significant success and representing the state and nation with dignity on the international stage.






It was emphasized that the GBAO Chairman's Cup women's volleyball competition, dedicated to Mother's Day, will create a favorable foundation for the further development of women's volleyball in Badakhshan.
In his speech, the regional chairman also noted that teams from the Darvaz, Rushan, Shugnan, Roshtkala, Ishkashim, Murghab, and Vanj districts, including the Yazgulyam jamoat, as well as the city of Khorog, are actively participating in the competition, along with institutions and organizations.





In conclusion, the regional chairman wished all teams success and emphasized that the games should be held in a friendly atmosphere.
After the speech by the regional chairman, the match between the teams "Khorog-1" and "Rushan-1" started.
