The number of terrorist and extremist crimes has decreased in Tajikistan, Khabibullo Vohidzoda announced at a press conference on February 15.
According to him, by the end of 2025, the number of such offenses had decreased by more than 23%, or 314 cases, compared to 2024.
The Prosecutor General noted that the reduction was made possible following Tajik President Emomali Rahmon's order to refrain from initiating criminal cases for posting likes and other comments on social media. He also stated that outreach efforts had been intensified.
It is noted that 405 individuals, against whom appropriate sanctions were applied for crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature, were released from criminal liability.
As a reminder, the abolition of penalties for "likes and reposts," adopted and supported by the Tajik parliament, was signed by the head of state in May 2025. According to the president, some government agencies were unfoundedly initiating criminal cases against citizens, and this practice needed to be stopped.
Earlier, Supreme Court Chairman Rustam Mirzozoda stated at a press conference that the cases of individuals convicted of posting "likes" and comments online could be reviewed.
