The International Labor Organization has published a ranking of countries by working week length for 2025. The figures are based on actual hours worked, including both employees and the self-employed, Tengri Life reports.
According to published data, people in Tajikistan spend more time at work than in many neighboring countries.
According to the study, the average workweek in Tajikistan is 41.04 hours. Men work an average of 44.71 hours per week, while women work 35.63 hours.
Among countries with the shortest workweek, Yemen has one of the lowest rates—25.89 hours per week. Men there work an average of 26.42 hours, while women work 18.03 hours.
In the Netherlands, the average working week is 26.77 hours: 30.44 hours for men and 22.65 hours for women.
In Norway, the average person works 27.10 hours per week (29.45 hours for men and 24.48 hours for women).
In Austria, the average is 28.41 hours: men work 32.07 hours, women 24.28 hours.
In Denmark, the average working week is 28.75 hours, of which 31.23 hours for men and 25.97 hours for women.
In the United States, the average is 36.08 hours per week (38.05 hours for men and 33.73 hours for women).
The highest working hours are recorded in Bhutan, where the average workweek is 54.49 hours. Men work 55.03 hours, while women work 53.68 hours.
In Sudan, the average working week is 50.76 hours: 51.90 hours for men and 45.70 hours for women.
In Lesotho, the figure is 50.20 hours, including 51.52 hours for men and 48.43 hours for women.
In the Republic of Congo, the average work week is 48.73 hours. Men work 49.17 hours, women 48.25 hours.
In the United Arab Emirates, the average working week is 48.36 hours, with men working 48.33 hours.
Among neighboring countries, the average workweek in Armenia is 38.00 hours: men work 42.70 hours, women 33.38 hours.
In Kazakhstan, the average is 37.97 hours per week: men – 39.37 hours, women – 36.48 hours.
In Kyrgyzstan, people work an average of 35.19 hours: 38.74 hours for men and 30.18 hours for women.
In Russia, the average workweek is 38.21 hours. Men work 39.21 hours, women 37.16 hours.
In Uzbekistan, the average figure reaches 40.35 hours (43.09 hours for men and 35.19 hours for women).
