The holy month of Ramadan in Tajikistan will begin on February 19 and last until March 20 in 2026, according to the press secretary of the Committee on Religious Affairs.
He noted that, in accordance with astronomical calculations by the Institute of Astrophysics of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the Council of Ulema at its meeting on February 10 confirmed the beginning of the month of Ramadan on February 19.
During the meeting, the amounts of fitr-sadaqah, zakat, and fidiya for 2026 were also approved. According to the decision of the Council of Ulema, the amount of fitr-sadaqah for the current year was reduced compared to the previous year, while the amount of zakat was increased.
It is reported that in 2026, each person is required to pay 7 somoni as sadaqa'i fitr, which is 1 somoni less than in 2025.
However, if a person has savings of 64,000 somoni or more, they are required to pay 1,600 somoni in zakat. For comparison, in 2025, the minimum savings amount was 36,900 somoni, and the zakat amount was 880 somoni.
Additionally, a fidiya was established for those unable to fast for valid reasons. In 2026, the fidiya for 30 days was 420 somoni, or 14 somoni per day. In 2025, this figure was 480 somoni, or 16 somoni per day.
