In 2025, students from Dushanbe's educational institutions won 2,447 medals at Olympiads of various levels. This was announced by First Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe Bakhtiyor Sharifi at a press conference, according to NIAT Khovar.
According to him, 971 medals of the total number of awards were won at subject-specific Olympiads between regions of the republic, and another 1,476 medals were won at international Olympiads. These figures allowed Dushanbe to take first place among all regions of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Bakhtiyor Sharifi noted that, at the city administration's initiative, the "Science is More Valuable Than All Crafts" and "Know Languages—Explore the World" competitions have been held for four years now. In these competitions, 132 young talents won prizes and were awarded cash prizes.
He also reported that Moscow applicants regularly participate in the republican competitions "Science—the Beacon of Enlightenment" and "The Book of Wisdom, the Radiance of Dawn." Over the past five years, they have won 496 prizes in the republican stages of these competitions and hold top positions among the republic's regions.
According to the capital's administration, there are currently 208 secondary schools operating in Dushanbe. These include seven primary schools, 20 general education institutions, 179 general education institutions, including new-type schools and special schools, one correspondence school, and one specialized institution for children with special needs.
Of the total number of educational institutions, 172 are public and 36 are private. The total student population in the capital is 320,712, of which 168,968 are girls.
