Tajikistan's authorities are working to expand the number of labor migration destinations for citizens and are developing cooperation in this area with a number of foreign countries. This was announced to journalists at a press conference by Tajikistan's Minister of Labor, Migration, and Employment, Solekha Kholmahmadzoda.
"The Ministry is working to diversify labor migration. Cooperation is based on 39 international agreements concluded between Tajikistan and 17 countries, 15 of which relate to migration issues. Intergovernmental agreements have already been signed with a number of foreign countries, including the Republic of Korea, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Germany," the Minister noted.
According to her, documents on migration, labor relations, and employment have also been signed with Russia and a number of other CIS countries, as well as with Belgium, India, Iran, China, Kuwait, Turkey, and Japan.
It was reported that in November 2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor of Tajikistan signed a memorandum with the Migration Department of the Federal Public Service of the Interior of Belgium, which provides citizens of the Republic with employment opportunities in the Benelux countries in the fields of agriculture, construction, social work, and medicine. Furthermore, over 500 Tajik citizens have already been employed in Qatar, and the Republic of Korea has allocated a quota of 800 Tajik migrant workers for 2025.
According to the Ministry of Labor, in 2025, 30 business entities licensed to send labor abroad organized the sending of 35,747 citizens of the republic to work abroad, an increase of 18,805 compared to 2024. Of these, over 31,000 were employed in Russia, Deputy Minister of Labor, Migration, and Employment Sharif Norzoda clarified at a press conference.
