Due to expected precipitation and its intensification, increased avalanche risk is forecast in several areas of Tajikistan on January 28 and into the night of January 29. This was reported by the Agency for Hydrometeorology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, increased avalanche risk is expected on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway between kilometers 48 and 74, in the avalanche-prone areas of Maykhura and Zidekh in the Varzob district, in the mountainous areas of republican subordination, and in the Manem, Vuzh, Tangiv, and Bidur areas of the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
The Hydrometeorology Agency noted that adverse weather conditions could pose a risk of avalanches, and therefore citizens and vehicle drivers are advised to refrain, if possible, from traveling to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
In addition, those responsible in the areas of road traffic and transport are advised to take the necessary measures in view of the predicted avalanche danger.
