On January 26, 2026, an expert group meeting on improving the Procedure for distributing quotas, appointing, and rotating Deputy Secretaries-General of the CIS and other officials for quota positions in the CIS Executive Committee was held via videoconference at the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Minsk. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting was attended by plenipotentiary representatives and experts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as officials and employees of the CIS Executive Committee.
Participants exchanged views on countries' approaches to improving the document. Following the discussion, it was decided to continue working on this issue to reach agreed-upon decisions on the procedure for distributing quotas and appointing and rotating officials to fill quota positions.
The next meeting of the expert group is scheduled for February 25, 2026.
