A man who illegally detained a Tajik citizen has been detained in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, the National Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports .
It was established that a 32-year-old resident of Denau, with a previous conviction, illegally detained a 32-year-old resident of Dushanbe. According to the investigation, the Denau resident lent his acquaintance from Dushanbe $11,000 and kept the acquaintance's companion as collateral.
After the amount was not returned within the specified timeframe, the Tajik citizen was forcibly detained, his freedom of movement was restricted, and various forms of torture were used against him, resulting in him receiving serious bodily injuries.
A criminal case has been opened against a Denau resident, and he has been remanded in custody. No further details of the investigation have been released.
