Due to expected precipitation and its intensification in certain areas of the country, increased avalanche risk is forecast in the Republic of Tajikistan from January 27 to 29. The most dangerous situation is expected to develop on January 28 and the night of January 29.
According to the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan, the threat of avalanches is predicted on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway from the 48th to the 74th kilometer, in the Maykhura and Zidekh areas of the Varzob district, in the mountainous areas of republican subordination, as well as in the Manem, Vuzh, Tangiv, and Bidur areas of the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Due to the predicted avalanche danger, citizens are advised to refrain from traveling to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary. Responsible road and transportation authorities are advised to take additional safety measures.
