Police officers detained a 32-year-old resident of the city of Gissar on suspicion of fraudulent sale of a car, the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
According to investigators, in August 2025, the detainee fraudulently gained the trust of a 37-year-old Dushanbe resident, from whom he purchased a 2021 Range Rover Velar for 350,000 somoni. The man promised to deliver 4 tons and 333 kilograms of construction rebar in exchange for the car, but instead of fulfilling his promise, he sold the vehicle to another person for $28,000 and used the proceeds for personal needs.
An investigation is underway into this incident, and law enforcement officials are clarifying all the circumstances of the crime and establishing the detainee's involvement in other possible similar offenses.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reminds citizens of the need to exercise vigilance when transacting with vehicles and to carefully check the integrity of their counterparties.
