A farewell ceremony for Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani took place in Rome. The mass was held in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, Interfax reports.
The ceremony was attended by stars of film and fashion, including Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace, American designer Tom Ford, actress Anne Hathaway, and models Natalia Vodianova and Bianca Brandolini d'Adda. Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri also attended the farewell.
Valentino's body will be cremated, and his ashes will be buried in the Flaminio Cemetery in Rome. More than 10,000 people paid their respects to the designer on Wednesday and Thursday.
Valentino Garavani passed away on January 19 at the age of 93. He founded his eponymous fashion house in 1960. He presented his final collection in 2008. That same year, the documentary "Valentino: The Last Emperor" was released, a nickname that was subsequently widely used in the media.
