From January 13 to 16, 2026, at the initiative of the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Office in Tajikistan and the Global Environment Facility, training sessions were held to strengthen technical capacity within the framework of the Paris Agreement. This was reported by the Agency's press service.
The training events covered issues related to the climate agenda, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRVs), National Climate Communications (NCs), and issues related to the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP).
Representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, higher education institutions, and research institutes of the republic participated in the trainings. Participants learned about the Republic of Tajikistan's obligations under the Paris Agreement and the mechanisms for their practical implementation.

The training provided detailed information on the preparation of a national greenhouse gas inventory, the development of a climate reporting system, and the implementation of measures to adapt to climate change and reduce its negative impacts.
It was noted that one of the key mechanisms for ensuring the transparency of climate reporting in the Republic of Tajikistan is the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR). This document reflects information on greenhouse gas emissions and removals, the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and climate change adaptation measures.
