Starting in March 2026, Tajikistan and Iran will waive visas for international truck drivers. This was announced by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dushanbe.
According to the embassy's statement, the decision was made based on a bilateral agreement between the two countries. Drivers and driver assistants of international freight transport companies holding regular Iranian and Tajik passports will now be able to enter each other's territory visa-free.
Under the new regulations, drivers are permitted to cross the border through all border crossing points. Furthermore, under the agreement, they will be able to stay in the other country without a visa for up to 30 days within any 90-day period.
These measures are expected to improve the efficiency of logistics between Tajikistan and Iran and strengthen trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Earlier, in September 2025, the visa regime was abolished for holders of diplomatic and service passports of the two countries.
