An agreement was signed between the Committee for Environmental Protection of Tajikistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to implement a project to reduce the use of hydrofluorocarbons and develop sustainable cooling technologies.

The project, funded by the Global Environment Facility, aims to fulfill Tajikistan's international climate commitments under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. It aims to reduce the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by 70 percent by 2029.

The project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and introduce climate-friendly cooling technologies.
