China has completed its first-ever astronaut training mission in a cave. The training took place in the southwestern municipality of Chongqing, and involved 28 astronauts.
The training was reportedly organized and conducted by the China Space Research and Training Center. The training lasted nearly a month.
The training program included more than ten disciplines, including environmental monitoring, cave mapping, simulating communications between space and Earth, and team psychological training.
It is noted that the cave conditions were used to simulate an isolated and complex environment, as close as possible to the conditions of long-term space missions.
