On December 29, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Chairman of the Government of the country Emomali Rahmon. The main issues on the agenda were the execution of the State Budget for 2026 and attracting investment for 2026-2030, the press service of the head of state reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda delivered a report on the draft Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan “On measures to implement the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the state budget of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026”.
It was emphasized that the purpose of developing this draft Resolution is to specify the process of executing the state budget, ensure the effective and targeted use of budget funds, and define the obligations of ministries and state committees, departments, executive bodies of state power of regions, cities and districts, enterprises, institutions and organizations, regardless of the form of ownership, to implement the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the State Budget of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026."
The head of state instructed responsible agencies to take the necessary measures to ensure high-quality revenue support for the state budget, including by identifying new sources of income.
Then, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurakhmon Abdurakhmonzoda presented a report on the State Investment Program for 2026-2030, noting that the main goal of this program is to attract foreign and domestic investment, including in the form of loans, grants, and technical assistance, for the implementation of priority projects in various sectors of the economy, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. The program's implementation is aimed at the country's socioeconomic development.
It was particularly noted that attracting foreign investment for the implementation of priority projects is one of the key factors in the further development of the national economy.
In total, the Program includes 864 projects worth a total of $15.7 billion.
It was emphasized that Tajikistan possesses significant natural resources, including water, mineral and rare metal reserves, a favorable climate and fertile land, significant tourism and human potential, as well as good investment opportunities.
In recent years, a number of significant reforms have been implemented in the country to ensure the development of national economic sectors and market relations, and the initiatives of investors and entrepreneurs to develop investment activities are fully supported by the country's government.
During the meeting, the draft Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan “On tariffs for electric and thermal energy” was also considered and adopted.
This project was prepared and presented with the aim of developing the energy sector and achieving a level of self-sufficiency in the financial and economic activities of the open joint-stock companies Barki Tojik, Electricity Transmission Network, and Electricity Distribution Network.
The head of state gave instructions and recommendations to the relevant structures on how to take the necessary measures to improve activities in this area.
It was ordered to introduce new tariffs for electricity and heat energy from February 1, 2026.
The work plan of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the first half of 2026 was also approved.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon gave specific instructions to officials regarding the country's socioeconomic development in 2025, issues related to the winter period, assistance to orphans, children left without parental care, persons with disabilities, and families in need, as well as comprehensive preparations for a worthy celebration of the International Holiday of Navruz and the 35th anniversary of State Independence.
