Tajiktelecom OJSC has summarized the interim results of Tajikistan's telecommunications infrastructure development for 2025. During the reporting period, extensive work was undertaken to improve internet quality, expand the network, and implement modern technologies, making communications in the country more stable, faster, and accessible.
One of the key achievements was the start of construction of new fiber-optic lines as part of a three-year project to launch new highways and modernize existing infrastructure. The total length of upgraded and currently under construction lines exceeds 3,459 kilometers, allowing Tajikistan to be connected across the country several times. In 2025, 536.2 kilometers of new fiber-optic lines were laid across the country, representing the largest network expansion in recent years. This has made internet access more accessible to residents of many regions, including hard-to-reach and remote areas.
Work continued to improve internet access in cities, especially in crowded areas. Free Wi-Fi was expanded to airports, parks, and other public spaces where a stable internet connection was especially needed. This allowed more residents and visitors to enjoy fast and convenient internet access.
The development of the urban digital environment was complemented by the modernization of the main transport network that carries internet traffic. New equipment was installed in key areas, significantly increasing connection speed and reliability, especially in remote areas, where reliable connectivity directly impacts quality of life and access to modern digital services.
A logical continuation of this work was the development of international connections and the national TJ-IX traffic exchange point, through which operators exchange internet data. Strengthening internal networks has increased the efficiency of external communication channels. Over the course of the year, new international connections were launched and existing connection speeds were increased, improving access to global internet resources and making online services faster and more stable across the country.
Tajiktelecom CEO Bakhtovar Abdusattorzoda noted: "2025 has shown that our work is yielding tangible results. This year alone, we built over 500 kilometers of new fiber-optic lines—a major step forward. We've strengthened our main internet backbones, expanded international channels, and made communications more resilient. The development of digital technologies is the foundation of the country's growth, and we will continue to make the internet more modern and accessible to all residents of Tajikistan."
The development of digital infrastructure remains a government priority. Work to modernize communications and expand the network will continue next year.
