In Tajikistan, the Program for the Development of Primary and Secondary Vocational Education for 2026–2029 has been approved, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.
400 million somoni will be allocated for the program's implementation, more than half of which will come from the state budget. The funding will go toward digitalization, the development of teaching and learning materials, staff development, and the construction, renovation, and equipping of lyceums and colleges.
Today, there are 66 primary vocational education institutions and 86 secondary vocational education institutions operating in the country. A significant number of buildings are in need of repair, the equipment is outdated, and the shortage of teachers and technicians remains a serious problem. Only half of lyceums are connected to the internet, and only 37% of college computers are online.
The new program aims to modernize educational content, update standards, implement competency-based and dual approaches, develop digitalization, increase the participation of young people and women in vocational education, and strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and employers.
