The German government plans to increase financial support for Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities to more than €11.5 billion by 2026, according to NTV , citing Ministry of Finance documents submitted for final consideration of the draft budget by the Bundestag Budget Committee.
According to the document, additional funds will be used to purchase artillery systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles , and to replace two Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems .
As the publication clarifies, the German parliament's Budget Committee will meet for its final meeting on Thursday to approve the final changes to the 2026 budget draft.
Government sources previously reported that additional funding would be allocated as part of an expansion of the military and humanitarian aid program for Ukraine, which has been implemented since the beginning of the conflict.
Meanwhile, members of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz's entourage noted that the cabinet is prepared to resist opposition pressure calling for an end to support for Ukraine.
