President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the UN Summit for Social Development in Doha. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Head of State expressed satisfaction with the progressive development of friendly relations between Tajikistan and Qatar.
The parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues. Particular attention was paid to expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, including in energy, industry, mineral extraction and processing, and agriculture.
The importance of the State of Qatar's investment in the implementation of hydropower projects in Tajikistan and the development of energy production from renewable sources was noted.
In addition, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the areas of labor migration, culture, science, education, and tourism.
The joint activities of the two countries within the framework of international and regional organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, were highly praised.
Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan supports the mediation efforts of the State of Qatar aimed at resolving the situation in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
At the end of the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place on other issues of mutual interest.
