President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon participated and addressed the UN Summit on Social Development, held in the capital of the State of Qatar, Doha.
In his address, the Head of State emphasized that social well-being is an important foundation for strengthening comprehensive peace, stability, and sustainable development. He noted that the adoption and implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040 continues the country's efforts in this area.
President Rahmon reported that Tajikistan is currently implementing eight state programs and three long-term strategies in the education sector, which are also key to social development. He also noted that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is taking the necessary measures to ensure the effective operation of healthcare institutions and improve the level and quality of medical services for the population.
Emomali Rahmon emphasized that, as part of the implementation of adopted programs and strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the country places particular emphasis on strengthening human potential. It was reported that over the past two decades, Tajikistan has created and restored more than four million jobs in various socio-economic sectors.
The head of state also shared his vision of the interconnectedness of social development and environmental sustainability in Tajikistan and noted that the country is consistently taking measures to counter the effects of climate change in order to ensure the well-being of the population.
Emomali Rahmon stated: “We emphasize the need to take serious measures to improve vulnerable countries’ access to financial sources and ensure sustainable financing, in particular for social services, strengthening human capital, and adaptation to climate change.”
In his speech, the President touched upon the transition to a green economy and green energy, as well as the widespread adoption of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in various sectors of Tajikistan. In this context, he recalled the adoption of a Special Resolution of the UN General Assembly, initiated by Tajikistan, entitled "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia," and emphasized that this resolution could play an effective role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
In conclusion, the Head of State noted the need to unite efforts to create equitable conditions for social development for all segments of society and peoples of the world, and emphasized that social development, as one of the key areas of the Sustainable Development Goals, requires solidarity and special attention.
