President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Dushanbe on a working visit to participate in the second Central Asia–Russia Summit and a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the press service of the President of Kazakhstan, Akorda, reported.
The head of state was met at Dushanbe International Airport by Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda and other Tajik government officials. All measures have been taken to ensure the comfortable and safe stay of the Kazakh president, according to official sources.
The Kazakh President's press service clarified that during his visit, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will hold a bilateral meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The talks will focus on strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership, expanding economic ties, developing transport and energy infrastructure, and coordinating activities within the CIS.
"The President of Kazakhstan is scheduled to attend a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States tomorrow," the Akorda press service noted.
The upcoming visit was announced on October 8, 2025. It is being carried out at the invitation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and is aimed at deepening regional cooperation and enhancing the role of Central Asia in international politics.
The Central Asia–Russia Summit and the CIS Heads of State Council meeting will provide a platform for exchanging views on security, trade, transport, energy, as well as scientific, educational, and humanitarian cooperation. Leaders of the region's countries will participate in the events, creating conditions for strengthening strategic and economic ties between the states.
During the visit, the signing of documents aimed at further deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres is expected.
