The United States will issue a one-dollar coin featuring President Donald Trump, said Steve Guest, communications adviser to Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz, in a statement, according to RBC.
"America is back, and so is the one-dollar coin. [Donald Trump] will forever be the face of America's 250th anniversary thanks to [Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent] and [Treasurer Brandon Beach]," he wrote, attaching a draft image to the post.
The obverse of the coin features Trump's profile. The word "Liberty" appears at the top, and the phrase "In God We Trust" (the motto of the United States and the state of Florida, used on coins and bills) appears in the center. The dates 1776–2026 (the 250th anniversary of the United States' declaration of independence from Great Britain) appear at the bottom.
Beach confirmed the development of such a coin to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, which will take place next year. "I look forward to sharing more details soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the U.S. government is over," the U.S. Treasurer said.
