The Chairman of Tajikistan's Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tajikistan, Guo Zhizhong, to discuss current and future cooperation between the region and China, the regional administration's press service reported .
The parties noted the stable development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and China, emphasizing that bilateral ties are strengthening thanks to the policies of the two countries' leaders—Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Rajab Akhmadzoda reported that trade between the Sughd region and China amounted to approximately $600 million in the first eight months of 2025. Joint ventures operating in the region make a significant contribution to the region's economic development.
The regional head also briefed the ambassador on the socio-economic situation and expressed readiness to implement new joint projects, including the creation of industrial enterprises, the development of tourism, education, and healthcare.
Ambassador Guo Zhizhong expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation and confirmed the Chinese side's readiness to expand the partnership and implement new projects in the region.
