The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) command and staff exercise "Rubezh-2025" with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CRDF CAR) has begun at the Edelweiss training center in Kyrgyzstan. The CSTO press service reported this.
Military contingents from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and operational groups from the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are participating in the exercises. According to the ministry, the total number of participants is approximately 1,200 personnel and 500 units of military and special equipment, including aircraft, helicopters, drones, and combat boats.
"Our countries face common goals: protecting sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability within the CSTO. The global situation is unstable, and we must be prepared for any challenges: from transnational threats to attempts at destabilization in our region," said Kyrgyz Deputy Defense Minister Erlis Terdikbaev at the opening ceremony.
Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that "the main threat to the states of the Central Asian region is the real possibility of radical extremist groups moving from the Middle East to the southern borders of the region's states, spreading their ideology across our countries, and recruiting young people into terrorist organizations." "Under these conditions, successful combat missions require clear coordination between national armed forces, other security agencies of the states in the region, and the CSTO Collective Forces," he emphasized.
CSTO exercises will be held in the republic from September 17 to 20. Their main objective is to practice the preparation and conduct of combat operations by the CAR CRRF to destroy illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a member state.
