The third round of the national competition "Ilm – Furugi Marifat" ("Science – the Light of Enlightenment") began today in cities and districts of Tajikistan, the press center of the country's Ministry of Education and Science reported .
The competition is attended by 4,852 people: 2,605 students from secondary schools, 1,283 students from new-type educational institutions, 822 students from higher professional educational institutions, as well as 142 teachers, researchers, postgraduate students, doctoral students, engineers and designers.
In 2025, a new category, "Artificial Intelligence and Programming," was added to the competition, and the number of places for winners was increased from 132 to 156. Previously, the competition was held in seven categories: mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, geography, information technology, invention, and innovation.
The competition, held in Tajikistan for the fifth year, is part of a program to develop natural, exact, and mathematical sciences, as well as to train highly qualified specialists in engineering and programming. The competition helps to increase young people's interest in scientific research and develop human resources for the country's digital economy.
By decree of Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, the prize money for the competition's winners has been doubled. In 2025, third place winners will receive 30,000 somoni, second place winners 50,000 somoni, first place winners 70,000 somoni, and the Super Cup winner 140,000 somoni. The total reserve fund for awarding the winners is 9.22 million somoni.
The organizers note that participation in the competition broadens participants' horizons, develops scientific thinking, and contributes to the creation of a digital educational environment, stimulating the development of science, education, culture, and healthcare in the country.
