Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Doha, where an extraordinary summit of Arab states and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is taking place. The press service of the Tajik presidential administration reported this.
During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international topics of mutual interest.
Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the positive trends in recent years in the development of relations between Tajikistan and Iran, noting that regular contacts and meetings between the leaders play an important role in strengthening the partnership.
It was separately emphasized that the peoples of the two countries are united by common historical, cultural, and linguistic values, which serve as a solid foundation for further expansion of cooperation.
Discussing the complex situation in the Middle East and the Islamic world, the heads of state expressed their opinion on the need to take effective joint measures to ensure peace and stability.
Particular attention was paid to the recent decision of the UN General Assembly, which adopted a resolution on the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the principle of “two states for two peoples”.
The President of Tajikistan noted that his country views negotiations and dialogue as the primary way to resolve crises and conflicts in the region and the world.
In addition, a substantive exchange of views took place on other bilateral and international issues.
