Tajik President Emomali Rahmon attended and addressed an extraordinary meeting of the heads of state of the Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar. This was reported by the presidential press service.
At the beginning of his speech, Emomali Rahmon expressed deep regret over the military strike on Qatar that took place on September 9, emphasizing that he views it as an act of aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a fraternal country.
"We once again strongly condemn this act of aggression, which is a gross and blatant violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter," the Tajik leader said.
In his address, the President of Tajikistan noted the alarming events and trends in the Middle East, which pose a serious threat to international security, and emphasized the need to find ways to resolve the situation peacefully.
"It is deeply regrettable that over the past two years, the international community has witnessed a catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the aspirations of the Palestinian people remain a pressing issue on the international agenda," Emomali Rahmon emphasized.
He noted that any violent actions in the region only increase tensions, create new hotbeds of conflict and hinder the process of negotiations and dialogue necessary to achieve sustainable peace and stability.
In the context of a complex international situation, Emomali Rahmon called for strengthening the unity of the Muslim Ummah and emphasized that a solid foundation for cooperation in trade, economics, investment, and modern technology is the key to the sustainable socio-economic development of OIC member states.
“Only sustainable development can ensure the security, stability, and well-being of the Muslim Ummah,” the President noted.
Emomali Rahmon also noted the continuing threats of terrorism, extremism, and other global challenges, emphasizing the need for joint action within the OIC. He recalled the enormous contribution of prominent thinkers in the Islamic world to the development of a culture of peace and harmonious coexistence, calling for the further strengthening of this legacy.
In conclusion, the head of Tajikistan expressed hope that the extraordinary OIC meeting in Doha would serve to strengthen solidarity within the Islamic world and would be a step toward preventing violations of international norms.
