Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in Doha. The talks took place during the extraordinary summit of the heads of Arab states and member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Tajik president's press service reported .
Emomali Rahmon noted that relations between Tajikistan and Qatar are consistently developing based on mutual respect and in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood.
The parties emphasized the successful results of high-level official and working visits in 2024, as well as the importance of the agreements reached then for further strengthening cooperation.
During the talks, the prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties were discussed, as well as cooperation in energy, transport and communications, industry, mineral extraction and processing, agriculture, science, culture, education, and tourism.
In the international arena, it was deemed necessary to strengthen political contacts and coordination of actions within the UN, OIC and other international and regional structures.
Particular attention was paid to the developments in the region in light of the recent military strikes on Qatar. In this regard, the parties expressed solidarity and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to maintain peace and stability.
