A citizen named Davlatbek Umarov has been detained in the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan. He is suspected of a series of fraudulent actions aimed at obtaining someone else's property under the pretext of labor emigration to the United Kingdom, the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs reported .
According to law enforcement, Davlatbek Umarov, born in 1996 and a native of the village of Shodandi in the Kushoniyon district, gained the trust of citizens by promising assistance in finding employment abroad and received large sums of money from them. For example, Kholmakhmad Nazarov, a resident of the Khuroson district, gave the suspect 15,000 somoni to obtain a visa for his son. Muboraksho Olimov, a resident of the city of Kulyab, also fell victim to a similar scam.
In total, the investigation established that the detainee committed at least eight similar incidents, as a result of which he illegally obtained more than 252,000 somoni, spending it on personal needs and failing to fulfill any promised actions in the interests of citizens.
Furthermore, investigative authorities discovered that Umarov had distributed unethical photographs and videos through WhatsApp and Telegram messengers that violated human culture and morality.
Davlatbek Umarov is currently under arrest. The Kushoniyon District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case under Articles 241, Part 3 (fraud) and 247, Part 3 (dissemination of pornographic materials) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs asks citizens who have become victims of the suspect's actions to file a complaint at their place of residence to bring him to justice.
