On September 28, in Beijing, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China. This was reported by the presidential press service.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues. President Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the level and content of relations with China, emphasizing that China is a reliable friend, a good-neighborly state, and a strategic partner for Tajikistan.
Particular attention was paid to ongoing political dialogue, the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as active interaction in the inter-parliamentary and public spheres.
The parties discussed the implementation of major projects in energy, transport, and logistics as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. They also noted the consistent strengthening of the partnership between Tajikistan and China within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Central Asia-China format.
More than 700 companies with Chinese capital currently operate in Tajikistan. During the meeting, the parties agreed on the feasibility of expanding cooperation in industry and agriculture, including agricultural exports to China.
Additionally, cooperation in the field of digital technologies and innovation, the digitalization of Tajikistan's national economy, as well as the development of educational ties and the training of specialists in the field of information and communications technology were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on strengthening cooperation in the field of security and China's support for Tajikistan's global and regional initiatives.
In honor of the President of Tajikistan, an official banquet was held in the building of the National People's Congress of China on behalf of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping with the participation of Zhao Leji.
