In the Sughd region, measures to maintain cleanliness and protect the environment at tourist sites will be strengthened, said the head of the region, Rajab Akhmadzoda.
During a visit to the Khurramdar area of the Shahristan district, a popular tourist destination, Akhmadzoda emphasized the importance of maintaining environmental standards and order in the recreation area. "Those responsible for the sector must pay serious attention to cleanliness and environmental protection, especially in the Khurramdar area. Today, this area is popular with hundreds of tourists," the regional governor noted.
He noted that some vacationers leave trash in inappropriate places, which is detrimental to the environment. According to Akhmadzoda, cleanliness enforcement needs to be strengthened, and all visitors are required to dispose of waste only in designated containers.
"Maintaining order and cleanliness in the surrounding environment is the responsibility of every responsible person. We have instructed officials to regularly organize cleanup days and ensure the cleanliness of tourist areas," added the governor of the Sughd region.
Sughd Region, renowned for its unique natural beauty, continues to develop its recreational infrastructure and attract tourists from both Tajikistan and abroad. According to the Committee for Tourism Development, 761,400 foreign tourists visited the country in the first six months of 2025, a 31% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, 699,200 came from the CIS countries, and 59,800 from further afield.
The region hopes that compliance with environmental standards and maintaining order at tourist sites will increase the attractiveness of the Sughd region for travelers and create comfortable recreational conditions for local residents.
