The fight against falsification saved Kazakhstan over 4 billion tenge, or over 7.4 million US dollars, according to government data, Tengrinews.kz reports.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers' press service, Kazakhstan launched a digital patient identification project to combat false positives last August. Now, Kazakh citizens seeking medical care are photographed to prevent false positives. According to official data, this has led to a 6 percent reduction in the number of unnecessary medical services, amounting to 4.7 billion tenge.
According to the government, eight of the most commonly used medical certificates have also been digitized. These are 073/u ("Driver Permit"), 075/u ("Medical Certificate"), 052-2/u ("Child Health Certificate"), 026/u ("VKK Conclusion"), 069/u ("Sanatorium and Resort Card"), 052-2/u ("Child Health Certificate"), 076/u ("Obtaining a Weapons Permit"), and 038/u ("Temporary Disability Certificate"). The Cabinet of Ministers promises to completely eliminate paper sick leave certificates from circulation. As a result, according to official data, the workload on healthcare workers has been reduced to 40 percent.
Kazakhstan promises to introduce artificial intelligence—the "Doctor's Assistant"—by September 2025. This will optimize diagnostics and minimize errors.
The government emphasized that, in fulfilling the President's instructions outlined in his Address, Kazakhstan will continue to transform its healthcare sector. "This work is aimed at improving the accessibility and quality of medical care for every citizen and is focused on achieving the main goal of increasing life expectancy," the Cabinet of Ministers noted.
As a reminder, in December 2024, it was reported that more than 23,000 false appointments totaling 208 million tenge, or more than $386,000, were discovered in Kazakhstan's medical facilities. Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova previously promised that falsifications at medical facilities could result in harsh measures, including license revocation.
