US and Ukrainian Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet on Monday before being joined by European officials, NewsNation reports, citing informed sources.
According to them, Trump and Zelensky will first hold a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office, followed by a larger meeting with the participation of European leaders.
Vice President J.D. Vance will attend the bilateral meeting between Trump and Zelensky, one source said.
Meanwhile, the New York Times, citing a European diplomat, reports that panic reigns among Kyiv's European allies ahead of the meeting, which was organized unexpectedly quickly.
According to the diplomat, European officials are eager to avoid a scene similar to the altercation between Zelensky and Trump in front of television cameras at the White House in February.
As reported, European leaders planning to attend the meeting in Washington will include German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
