The implementation of a project to modernize cargo scanning equipment at the customs checkpoint in the Spitamen district of the Sughd region, located along the International Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, was discussed in Dushanbe during a meeting between Khurshed Sheralizoda, Deputy Head of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Office, led by Saichi Negishi. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Particular attention was paid to the progress of research conducted by Japanese specialists.
Saichi Negishi expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing that the Republic of Tajikistan is a key country in the region for JICA. She noted the importance of ensuring the continued development of partnerships at the required level.
The JICA working group discussed the preparation of a detailed study and improvement of the project to strengthen the customs scanning infrastructure.
The JICA delegation also held separate meetings with representatives of relevant departments of the Customs Service, including the management of the Customs Control Organization Department, the Risk Management System Administration, the Financial and Economic Department, and the Post-Clearance Control and Audit Department, where they received comprehensive answers to their questions.
The Japanese representatives also inspected the activities of the Customs Service Data Processing Center.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol on the preparatory study for the Project for the modernization of cargo scanning equipment at the Spitamen customs point, located along the route of the International Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
The parties confirmed their readiness to expand and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of customs activities.
