President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Countries. The summit is taking place in the city of Turkmenbashi, according to the press service of the Tajik leader.
At Turkmenbashi International Airport, the distinguished guest was warmly welcomed by Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In honor of the Tajik leader's arrival, the square in front of the airport was decorated with the national flags of both countries. An honor guard was formed in accordance with diplomatic protocol.
That same day, Emomali Rahmon held a bilateral meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The two sides exchanged greetings and expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss pressing issues of bilateral and international cooperation on the sidelines of such a significant international forum.
During the talks, the importance of further strengthening friendly relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan was emphasized. The parties placed particular emphasis on expanding political dialogue, developing trade and economic ties, and deepening cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
In addition, during the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a number of current regional and global issues of mutual interest.
The President of Tajikistan wished the Turkmen side success in organizing the international conference and expressed confidence that its results will contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure and logistics in landlocked countries.
