From July 25 to July 28 of this year, the risk of glacial avalanches remains in Tajikistan, and deterioration of atmospheric air quality is expected due to dust storms. This was reported by the Hydrometeorology Agency under the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic.
According to experts, the risk of avalanches will remain in the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, in the foothill and mountainous areas of the Sughd Region, as well as in the mountainous regions of republican subordination (RRS).
At the same time, in the southern regions of Khatlon region, as well as in some regions of Sughd region, RRS and in the city of Dushanbe, wind speeds are expected to increase from 12-17 to 17-22 meters per second. As a result, air pollution with suspended dust particles of up to 10 micrometers (PM-10) and 2.5 micrometers (PM-2.5) is expected.
Particular attention is paid to July 27, when forecasters predict a peak in dust emission and dust formation, which may affect the well-being of people with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
The agency recommends that residents of mountainous regions take precautions and temporarily refrain from traveling to avalanche-prone areas. Citizens in dusty areas are advised to limit their time outdoors and use personal respiratory protection equipment.
