In the capital of Tajikistan, people sentenced to administrative arrest have begun to be forced to perform community service. This was reported by the Department of Internal Affairs for the city of Dushanbe.
As the department clarified, we are talking about citizens convicted of committing administrative offenses, including disturbing public order, begging, vagrancy and other illegal actions.
"This initiative is considered not only as one of the forms of administrative punishment, but also as an effective method of educational work," the Department of Internal Affairs stated. According to police representatives, the main goal of involving convicts in community service is to develop a sense of civic responsibility in them, as well as to facilitate their correction through participation in the improvement and life of society.
As the department emphasized, in the future the practice of involving persons subject to administrative arrest in community service will be continued on a permanent basis.
